Privacy policy
Last updated: July 31, 2026
theviewer is a player for content you already have. We host no channels, no movies, and no catalog — you connect your own playlist or provider account, and the app plays it. This page explains exactly what we store and why.
Your account
Signing in uses only your email address — a sign-in link, no password. Your account holds your profiles and the data listed below, and nothing else.
Your provider credentials
Playlist URLs and Xtream logins you save to your account are encrypted before they are stored. They are decrypted only on our servers, only to authorize your own streams, and are never logged, shown to any device, or shared with anyone.
What the app remembers
Watch history, favorites, reminders, and search history are kept per profile so the app can resume, suggest, and sync across your devices. They are visible only to you.
Song identification
When you press the Song ID button, a few seconds of the stream's audio are sent to the AudD recognition service to name the song. Audio is sent only when you press the button and we do not keep the recording.
Streams and the proxy
Your streams flow through our proxy so your provider details never leak to the pages you visit. We do not inspect, record, or store the media passing through.
No ads, no selling
There are no ads and no analytics brokers. We never sell or share your data. AI-generated extras (descriptions, matches) are cached against public catalog identifiers — never against you.
Your content is yours
theviewer is not affiliated with any content provider and supplies no media. What your playlist contains, and your right to watch it, is between you and your provider.
Deleting your data
You can remove any saved source in the app at any moment. To delete your account and everything in it, email us and it will be removed.
